Sugary Celebrations

75th Birthday Cake
Dense lemon yellow cake; Coconut Frosting

Last month, my family celebrated the 75th birthdays of two of my grandparents. My aunt's house was filled with family, friends, and food. We feasted and were very merry. This cake represented a bougainvillea plant that my grandfather trained to be a tree in my grandparent's backyard. The sugar tree was made out of a gum paste trunk, frosted leaves, and gum paste sugar flowers in three colors. The end result was beautiful. Sadly, the only picture I got was on my phone and it didn't capture the impact of the cake very well. Next time, I'll be more prepared. (Hmmm... have I said that before?)

Bridal Shower cake
made for Cynthia Gallagher, Cakes & More

This cake was designed to replicate a bride's wedding dress for her bridal shower. The bust of the dress was pleated (as was the fondant) with pearl buttons (pearl dragees) running the length of the back of the dress. I was very happy with the outcome of this cake. It was clean, sparkly, and stunning.

Hasta luego.
