Eye Caramba!

When asked to make an eye cake for a local optometrist, we didn't even flinch. "Of course! Eye'd love to," I responded, thinking I was very clever. I laughed, that is, until Sydney reminded me of something: eyes are spherical, not cake-ical.

In the end, we made a charmingly spherical eye cake with a gorgeous hazel iris. We made an eye chart for good measure. We also came up with a delicious red velvet recipe which translates very well into little, red cupcakes. (Can you believe that I'm from the South and didn't even know if I liked red velvet cake until this project? As it turns out, eye do.)
